Kelly’s main enjoyment in life is walking her dog Jaeger on the beach! She is also sporting mad and loves watching Rugby, League, Netball and Football. However, her main passion is hiking. Whilst she has completed numerous Great Walks throughout New Zealand, she recently returned from walking the length of Spain: An 800km walk called The Camino de Santiago. She travelled solo on this month-long adventure, and it was the highlight of her life so far! She loves any new challenge and will be the first to put her hand up to ‘give it a go’.

After working in our Twizel depot for two seasons, Libby joined our customer service team in our Christchurch booking office. She just loved the customer contact and sharing her passion for the A2O. Originally from England, and moved to Cyprus, where she lived for 15 years, so she describes herself as a Turkish Cypriot. She has now moved to NZ permanently. Having cycled the A2O multiple times on both a regular bike and an Ebike, Libby highly recommends the Ebike – she doesn’t do hills! She has ridden the West Coast Wilderness Trail and enjoyed it so much she wants to do it again! We all enjoy Libby’s bubbly personality in the office – she will be more than happy to help plan your trip.

Kelly has a lifelong passion for sport including a lengthy career playing representative netball for Canterbury and the honour of a season as Captain of the Bahraini National team. Upon retirement from the courts, Kelly caught the adventure racing and mountain biking bug and especially enjoys the rare access to the backcountry of New Zealand that these types of events provide.
Christchurch born and raised, Kelly has also lived internationally with a combined 8 years across the UK and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Having travelled through 45+ countries, Kelly knows what goes into planning a great trip and can’t wait to combine her passion for travel and cycling to ensure as many people as possible get to experience the incredible bike trails that Cycle Journeys has to offer.

Rachel is an avid fitness freak who loves CrossFit, hiking and mountain biking. She has hiked several 14ers in Colorado, the jungle in Borneo and is booked to hike the Milford Track in March next year. Recently returned to NZ from living abroad with her family, Rachel is a woman of many trades, and with her experience and passion for the outdoors, she is the perfect person to plan your cycle trip.

In order, Magan’s biggest joys in life are her dog (Cub), family and hiking. Born in Christchurch and raised in an outdoorsy family, she was brought up exploring the wider Canterbury region’s surrounding hills, rivers, lakes, and coastlines.
Well-versed in the tourism industry, Magan has worked onboard Luxury Yachts in the Mediterranean to living in a tent while guiding adventure seekers around New Zealand; it’s the people you meet along the way that make these experiences so memorable.
Magan loves to see people outdoors enjoying our slice of paradise and to help make active holiday plans a reality.

Our General Manager Dan is passionate about anything to do with the outdoors and has spent most of the last fifteen years as an outdoor guide all over NZ, Europe and Nepal – tramping, climbing, skiing, rafting and of course cycling. In a former life, Dan trained and qualified as a baker – part of growing up in a family bakery business just north of Wellington. Now settled in Christchurch with his young family, Dan is based at our Christchurch office but also floats between the Twizel and Hokitika depots making sure everything is running smoothly.

“Someone needs to be the accountant, so it may as well be me,” says Andrew. He lives by two rules of thumb, don’t panic and never take yourself too seriously. But don’t be fooled; he does have a solid tour sheet, with previous Christchurch based finance roles with Macpac and more than ten years as a business accountant with DOC for the Eastern South Island region. After years of trail running and the odd marathon, Andrew says his knees said enough and threatened to leave him. This made more time for his other outdoor passion, mountain biking. Most weekends, you will find him riding on the Port Hills or further afield on some of our world-class backcountry cycle trails and tracks.

Outdoors enthusiast, broken down cyclist and overall good guy. After 20 years of growing Adventure South, NZ’s leading guided cycle tour company, it led him to the Mackenzie, Twizel and the wineries and food outlets of the Waitaki and the development of Cycle Journeys. Occasional guide, maker of tea and sometimes driver of your bus, Geoff always has a good story and a laugh. He flips between the Christchurch office and the Twizel and Hokitika depots, and may even be the voice on the end of the phone for your initial enquiry.

When someone is needed to sort out fine details, figure out the accounting stuff, sort out IT problems – or deal with tricky customer service issues, Shelley is our first call. With a long background in the outdoor industry (co-founder of Macpac) Shelley has explored much of New Zealand and has cycled and trekked in many overseas destinations. She is based in our Christchurch office and often commutes to Twizel or Hokitika depots to provide support.

Prior to Cycle Journeys, Alicja has worked in marketing across the outdoors, tourism, education, sport and recreation, exercise, snowsport and the performing arts sectors for over 20 years. Originally from Germany, she believes that cycling is part of the German DNA. She recently completed the West Coast Wilderness Trail, loves the Whakarewarewa forest, walked various New Zealand tracks including the Heaphy and mountain biked the most dangerous road in the world (El camino de la Muerte in Bolivia).
Besides her passion for the outdoors, she cares about people and their wellbeing. Alicja is also an internationally accredited yoga teacher and taught at retreats in Bali and New Zealand, festivals, sound journeys, community events and in studios.

Dave has spent 30 years in and around the adventure tourism and education sectors, working as a teacher and guide on all seven continents along the way. He chose Hokitika to start a family because, in Dave’s words “it’s a cool little town that really does have it all – its just that no one really knows that yet – and that is what makes it cool.” Bikes have been a constant in his life, from early excursions on first generation mountain bikes into the hills around Dunedin, to circumnavigations of Ben Nevis and weekend blasts on the West Coast Wilderness Trail with the family.

Born & bred in the top of the South, Al brings local knowledge to the Great Taste Trail. He has an operations and customer service background cutting his teeth alongside Geoff in the early days of Adventure South and Macpac Wilderness. Retraining as an Ecologist, he spent 10+ years with the Department of Conservation (DOC) on Rakiura and Motueka, adding another chapter to his diverse book of life. Al and his wife spend much of their time growing their three handsome, intelligent and fully capable young men, their own business and the rest of the gaps are filled with masters football, making cheese, or hunting and gathering from the garden, forest or sea.
